Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do you have any more examples?
Every project gets uploaded to the Gallery page. However, most of the time it reaches the social media pages before being uploaded to the Gallery. You can find the links to the socials on the Contact page.
2. How do I clean my fursuit?
When your suit is completed or near completion, I will send you a complete care guide on storing, disinfecting, cleaning, traveling and repairing.
3. How much is shipping?
Shipping costs vary on the box size, weight of the package, and your location. I can give a rough estimate on shipping before I make your suit, but cannot guarantee that the estimate is the final shipping cost. The final cost will be totaled when your suit is complete and a packaging fee will be included. All shipping costs are calculated when your suit is boxed up. I will let you know the cost of the suit and send you payment steps. I ship this way to ensure that you are not under or over paying for shipping.
4. How old do I have to be to buy a suit?
Although I am more than happy to construct a suit for a minor, as stated in my TOS, you must have your legal parent or guardian contact me. I strongly recommend commissioning only a partial if you're still growing! You will very quickly grow out of a fullsuit which is a lot of money wasted. Check with your doctor or health care provider about when you should stop growing. I ask EVERY commissioner for a valid ID to confirm they are 18 or older unless they tell me they are under 18. If you are 17 and about to turn 18, you may have a parent contact me still or you can commission me after your birthday!
5. Do you take payment plans?
Yes! you may pay in full or you may make a payment plan. Your payment plan is fully customizable within reason. You must make down payment of 30% of your quoted price, and then the following month you will begin a minimum payment of $200 a month until your suit is paid off. Please not that you may be subject to a late fee for late or missing payments. If you are having problems, please contact me asap so we can discuss a potential pause or extension.
6. What are fursuits made from?
Depending on the maker, materials may vary. Most fursuits are made from foam, faux fur, hot glue, and thread/ Of course, these are just the basics. We use a wide variety of materials! I will review and notify you of each material that will be used and how it will be used. Spectrum Wolff Studios only uses trusted materials and brands. I will NEVER use old clothing or used materials on anything as I do not know what health issues it may cause and it is overall unsanitary. Any materials used on your suit have been purchased specially for your suit, or are supplies I already have that are stored on shelves or in boxes. Spectrum Wolff Studios NEVER uses REAL animal furs on any of our work.
7. How long does it take to make a fursuit?
This is also something that varies from maker to maker. Depending on the type of fursuit, the complexity of the character, life styles of the maker, skill level of the maker, and the maker's queue. Fursuit making is an art and must be treated as such. If you rush it, your product will be rushed. Personally for me, depending on the type of suit, a fursuit usually only takes a few weeks to a month to make depending on the complexity. Equipment, such as hot glue guns or clippers, may break down and need fixing or replacement. Although this rarely happens, the possibility is always there. Like any other human, I may also fall sick as well from time to time. I also prioritize school and my health. Whatever the case may be, ALWAYS keep in mind that I too am human and need a break. Commissioners are always updated about disruptions in my work flow.
8. What is a queue?
A queue, or more specially a commission queue, is a list of people who are in line for their commission to be worked on. At the very top of my queue is the commission that is currently being worked on. The person at the top gets full priority over all commission work and have likely finished paying off their suit and has been waiting the longest. Sometimes I will switch off work between the person at the very top of the queue and the person underneath them. As I complete each suit, the list will get shorter and people start to move up in the queue. The person at the bottom of the queue is most likely the newest commissioner, or has yet to pay. I prioritize commissions based on how much they have paid and how long each person has been waiting. If Person A has been in my queue for a month but has yet to finish paying, and Person B has just been added to my queue but has paid in full, Person B automatically moves above Person A. If Person C and Person D have both paid off their suits at the same time but Person C has been waiting longer, Person C will be put ahead of Person D. I have a Telegram update chat with every commissioner added to it. It is not required that you join the chat, but highly recommended. I send all updates to the chat regarding breaks and picture updates. My link to my Trello queue is also pinned at the top. My Trello displays all commissions and where everyone is at in my queue. Whether you join the Telegram chat or not, you will recieve all updates regarding breaks and your suit.
9. Will you make me a free fursuit? / Will you teach me how to make fursuits?
Simply put, the answer is no. Fursuits take a lot of time to make and materials can get expensive. This is currently my full time job and I rely on commissions to get by, especially between the conventions I vend at. If you want a low cost fursuit, you can find beginner makers who are just starting out who often have low prices. You also have the option to make you own.
As for teaching you how to make suit, there is a lot that goes into making a suit and I do not have the time to sit down and type out a message regarding how to make a suit. There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube. I recommend checking out Mugiwara Cosplay and Kloofsuits, but there are plenty of others who have tutorials as well!
