Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do you have any more examples?
Every big project eventually gets uploaded to the Gallery page. However, most of the time, it reaches the social media pages before being uploaded to the Gallery. You can find the links to the socials on the Contact page.
2. How do I clean my fursuit?
When your suit is completed or near completion, I will send you a complete care guide on storing, disinfecting, cleaning, traveling and repairing. You may reach use through the contact page if you need it sent to you.
3. How much is shipping?
Shipping costs vary on the box size, weight of the package, and your location. I can give a rough estimate on shipping before I make your suit, but cannot guarantee that the estimate is the final shipping cost. The final cost will be totaled when your suit is complete, and a packaging fee will be included. All shipping costs are calculated when your suit is boxed up. I will let you know the cost of the suit and send you payment steps. I ship this way to ensure that you are not under or over paying for shipping.
4. How old do I have to be to buy a suit?
All clients must be 18 years of age or older at the time of commissioning and sending payment. I require all clients to sign a contract and minors cannot sign contracts. Parents or guardians cannot sign the contract for you, but they may commission me for you. They must sign the contract and all communication must be through them.
5. Do you take payment plans?
Yes! All clients will have the option to pay in full or through a payment plan. I require a 30% nonrefundable down payment at the time of your commission being accepted. From there, you must make monthly payments of $400 USD or more a month until your suit is paid off. Late payments will incur a $100 late fee. All invoices for monthly payments will be sent on the first of the month and will be due at the end of the month. Your payment automatically becomes late if not paid before the first of the following month. Late fees do NOT count as payment towards your total cost.
6. What are fursuits made from?
Depending on the maker, materials may vary. Most fursuits are made from foam, faux fur, hot glue, and thread. Spectrum Wolff Studios uses a combination of materials such as, but not limited to: faux fur fabric, fleece, minky, 3D printed materials (PLA, TPU, PETG, etc.), high quality threads, hot glue, polyfil, lycra spandex, neoprene, high density foam, and more. Spectrum Wolff Studios will only use the highest quality materials we can find and NEVER uses real animal parts or pelts.
7. How long does it take to make a fursuit?
This is something that varies from maker to maker. Depending on the type of fursuit, the complexity of the character, life styles of the maker, skill level of the maker, and the maker's queue. Fursuit making is an art and must be treated as such. If you rush it, your product will be rushed. Fursuit making and vending at cons is my full time job. I make most of my income from vending at cons. It allows me to continue making suits full time without picking up a traditional part time or full time job to cover bills. It is important that I ensure I always have enough inventory for cons and therefore, commissions, premades, and con inventory are worked on side by side. Most commissions can take a few months up to a year to make once paid off. I try to keep my queue small to avoid longer wait times. All clients will have access to my Trello and update channel and will receive updates as they become available.
8. What is a queue?
A queue, or more specially a commission queue, is a list of people who are in line for their commission to be worked on. At the very top of my queue is the commission that is currently being worked on. The person at the top gets full priority over all commission work and has likely finished paying off their suit and has been waiting the longest. Sometimes I will switch off work between the person at the very top of the queue and the person underneath them. As I complete each suit, the list will get shorter and people start to move up in the queue. The person at the bottom of the queue is most likely the newest commissioner, or has yet to pay. I prioritize commissions based on how much they have paid and how long each person has been waiting. If Person A has been in my queue for a month but has yet to finish paying, and Person B has just been added to my queue but has paid in full, Person B automatically moves above Person A. If Person C and Person D have both paid off their suits at the same time but Person C has been waiting longer, Person C will be put ahead of Person D. I have a Telegram update chat with every commissioner added to it. It is not required that you join the chat, but highly recommended. I send all updates to the chat regarding breaks and picture updates. My link to my Trello queue is also pinned at the top. My Trello displays all commissions and where everyone is at in my queue. Whether you join the Telegram chat or not, you will recieve all updates regarding breaks and your suit.
9. Will you make me a free fursuit? / Will you teach me how to make fursuits?
Simply put, the answer is no. Fursuits take a lot of time to make and materials can get expensive. This is currently my full time job and I rely on commissions to get by, especially between the conventions I vend at. If you want a low cost fursuit, you can find beginner makers who are just starting out who often have low prices. You also have the option to make you own. Please visit our Etsy shop for DIY fursuit parts.
As for teaching you how to make suit, there is a lot that goes into making a suit and I do not have the time to sit down and type out a message regarding how to make a suit. There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube. I recommend checking out Mugiwara Cosplay and Kloofsuits, but there are plenty of others who have tutorials as well!
10. What type of reference sheet is acceptable?
All potential clients hoping to commission Spectrum Wolff Studios should have a reference sheet with 2-3 views. We highly recommend you have a full body reference unless you are commissioning a head only, in which case, a front and back view will suffice. All references should be fursuit friendly with clear markings, no shading, and no gradients (with the exception of eyes). We highly encourage close ups on complex markings that may be hard to see, and important details such as nose, tongue, paw pads, and eyes should be visible and easy to see. Clothes and accessories should not cover the character in all views. While we are NSFW friendly, please send us a SFW or censored reference sheet as our queue is public. NSFW reference sheets should only be sent if you are also purchasing 18+ accessories, but should be sent alongside SFW or censored ref.
11. What are adult accessories?
Spectrum Wolff Studios believes that consenting adults have the right to express themselves with their fursuits as they would like. We make adult accessories for NSFW photos and activities. We will not express further what we make on our website here, but if you are 18 or older you may use our contact forms to discuss these accessories further.
If you do not find your question on here, please get into contact with me! I'm happy to answer any questions!
